MYROSLAVA PETRIVNA KOT (10.05.1933 – 29.12.2014)
This pedagogue, embroideress, assistant professor of Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University (1955), member of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine (1990), Merited Master of Folk Crafts of Ukraine (1995),in the 90s carried out a thorough study of embroidery of Drohobych region (part of Boikivshchyna).
Her art works are in many museums and private collections of Ukraine, the USA and Canada.
Nowadays the greater part of the craftswoman’s embroidery collection – women’s and men’s shirts, towels (rooshnyky), pillowcases, serviettes, napkins – are kept in Myroslava Kot Museum front room (the house where she lived). Consultations, advice, embroidering, sewing constantly took part in Myroslava Kot’s house – the museum house, front room house, house – constantly acting workshop.
Nowadays the house is looked after by Myroslava Kot’s son Mr. Yaroslav Kot and her sister Mrs. Olga Gut.
The artist passed away some years ago, but her art inspires us and more than once makes us to be sure in a Ukrainian woman’s talent and immortality of our traditions.
